Community for the community

Vision – Prayer – a lot of Work

This foundation was created in 2003 by the presbytery of the Csillagváros congregation in Oradea. Nearly 20 years have passed since the foundation. We are almost 20 years old!

Our goal was to create another medium, next to congregational tasks, through which we can serve the community. Through which we can listen to and help people around us. At the same time, we know that individuals make the community. This is why it is important to pay attention to humans, children, youth and adults equally. Investing into individuals is an important practice of truly developed, virtuous countries. In order to reach goals, we need to do the same with all that we have, investing into people the most, so that they are not only well-informed but also able to convert the information into wisdom. Furthermore, the pastors, presbyters and members of the congregation have always been aware of the values that help people be partners to each other. This motivated us to start the foundation.

The name of the foundation conveys a message.

Our community is situated at one point of the star-shaped Oradea Fortress which inspired the name of both the congregation and foundation. The star is a symbol that provides light, certainty, hope to those who discover, see and follow it. The Oradea Fortress used to convey that message once upon a time, but hopefully it will never cease doing so for the sake of the people living the present and future.

As a foundation, an institution we strive to leave footsteps behind that will be able to lead future generations on the same path. We wish to carry and pass on Christian, national and human values that create, ensure and sustain the future.

In this sense, the objectives of the foundation are the following:

  • Charity work
  • Children and youth education in a Christian spirit
  • Cultivating and passing on national values, traditions and cultural values
  • Pastoral care, life coaching
  • Youth and adult training

The president of the foundation, Judit Vinczéné Pálfi.

I have been serving as a pastor for 30 years, but I was also working as a councillor on mission at the Reformed Diocese of Királyhágómellék for 15 years. I have ties to Vedresábrány, I was born there. I saw the light of day at the reformed manse of the village on Sunday morning, during service.

When I first visited the property, my heart skipped a beat. I have known and believed that I’ve got work to do here ever since.

Vision:

The focus is on the community, on the people who live here and nearby. Also, on those who will come from distant places to get to know and take away a piece of the region and values thereof.

This will be a safe meeting point for God and humans, church and secularism where our world has a chance to become a lot better and nicer place.

I have got duties, missions here to work with children and adults, like events to reinforce and consolidate faith, Bible weeks for children and young people, training for presbyters, congregations, women’s associations, pastors and colleagues, forest school programs, folk-music and folk-dance camps.

My professional life took a turn – by God, I believe – where I got to familiarize and even to like challenges, new situations where seeing the point is essential.

I consider the Zichy Mansion an opportunity

Oradea is not far from Érmellék, it is 50 km to the heart of the region.

A hunting lodge, the mansion of the Zichy family has been put up for sale in Vedresábrány.

The setting is beautiful and there is a serene, peaceful vibe. The forest of Albis overlooks the mansion. The property lies in the hands of nature and God. We came by several times, we observed it and knew that this land has potential. Something must be planted here to invigorate heartbeat and circulation!

This must become a venue for meetings!

In an unconventional way!

This is supposed to be an interdisciplinary institution, that is, one that seeks connection and balance among different sciences, cultures, nations, where everything happens for good understanding and development. A place that provides confessional, scientific, cultural, national foundation and development for the society and communities through people, and where they can meet in order to mutually develop through each other’s knowledge and creativity.

We would like to slowly follow the model of Evangelical Academic Centres established in Germany after World War II. They have contributed to the realization of the idea of an amateur movement to this day in which church and profane, faith and vocation, as well as politics and culture generate a lively national church and community.

I declare that I have not been forced to donate, I selflessly waive the amount I donated to the Csillagvaros Foundation, I do not claim a refund for any reason.
